ProMed Billing Services (PBS) is a field-tested and proven effectual billing service offered to those physicians who wish to concentrate on providing high quality healthcare rather than needing to deal with day-to-day billing issues. Our billing services are currently in place in more than one hundred thirty six hospitals and clinics utilized by our physician clients throughout Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas and Mississippi. We have billed for a variety of provider types such as radiologists, radiation therapists, pathologists and anesthesiologists, CRNA, optometrists, psychiatrists, plastic surgeons, and neurosurgeons.

Implementation

A smooth and successful implementation is crucial to ensuring your immediate satisfaction with our system. We begin our partnership with an introductory meeting at which time we will train or provide the appropriate staff, establish a bookkeeping system in accordance with your accountant, determine the frequency and method for data transfer and review the necessary billing forms. PBS is extremely flexible in adapting to meet the needs of each customer.

Billing

Once implementation is complete, billing can begin. PBS takes all the billing information we receive and enters it into our system . Complete and accurate coding. Claims are sent electronically daily to all carriers so there is no delay in getting paper forms out the door. HIPAA certified electronic data transfers. We also bill patients for their portion of the charges. As Medicare, Medicaid, and other carriers frequently change their rules, regulations, and information requirements, we keep a close watch on them in order to conform to local requirements and ensure timely payment. Accounts receivable follow-up, extensive third party follow-up questioning and requiring clarification of all disallowed charges or portions of a charge.

Collections

To dramatically improve collections, we have an in-house collections department responsible for handling all claims that remain unpaid after 120 days, issuing notices and continuous follow-up with insurance companies and patients, establishing payment plans for patients who cannot offer full payment, and, with the permission of the physician, utilizing an external collection agency on accounts left unpaid after a six-month period. Patient balance collections via cash, checks, debit or credit cards. Follow through with outside collection agency.

Reporting

PBS can provide many standardized management reports covering accounts receivable, referring physicians, charges, adjustments, payments and procedures. We also can provide customized reports upon your request.

Pricing

Pricing is determined by the size of the practice, average patient charges, claim volume per month, payer mix and other pertinent factors. We work with you to obtain this information and determine the appropriate pricing schedule. We strive to offer a premium service at a competitive fee allowing you to improve your current financial position.

Systems Provided

PBS provides and features the GE Centricity Physician's Office Practice Management Systems as part of all contracts. Other systems can be used as well.
